Twitter issued its first official communication since Elon Musk’s takeover of the company in late October that didn’t come from the Twitter account of “Chief Twit.” (Adweek)

“Twitter’s mission is to promote and protect the public conversation—to be the town square of the internet. We have always understood that to reach this goal we must give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information, instantly without barriers. Today, we are a new company embarking on a new chapter, but our steadfast commitment to this mission has not changed.” (Twitter Blog)

Twitter is bringing recommended tweets from people you don’t follow to all users, the company announced on Wednesday. Twitter is doing this because it wants to “ensure everyone on Twitter sees the best content on the platform,” so it’s expanding them even to people who “may not have seen them in the past.” (The Verge)

Musk said he went to Apple’s headquarters and met with Apple CEO Tim Cook, in tweets on Wednesday. The meeting marks a significant de-escalation days after Musk went on a tweet storm accusing Apple of threatening to pull the Twitter app from the App Store and posted, then deleted, a meme that suggested he would rather “go to war” than pay Apple’s 30 percent platform fees.
