Stephen Colbert Captures Late-Night Ratings Crown in 2018-19

By the slimmest of margins, there’s a new No. 1 in late night. CBS’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert will claim the No. 1 ranking in late night among adults 18-49 for the 2018-19 season, which ends Wednesday. (THR / Live Feed)

He’s on track to finish about 18,000 ahead of NBC’s Jimmy Fallon in the key age bracket, after trailing by 72,000 last season. (Deadline)

Not only is this the first time Colbert has topped Fallon for a full season, but it marks the first time The Late Show has topped late-night since the 1994-95 season under David Letterman. (Variety)

In terms of total viewers, Colbert separated himself from Fallon by a pretty wide margin, claiming his third straight victory there. Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC finished third in the key demo, as well as in total viewers. (TheWrap)

Colbert ended the 2017–18 season with a 1.2 million-viewer lead over Fallon (and 1.6 million viewers ahead of Kimmel), so the Late Show’s margin of victory grew more impressive during the past nine months. (Vulture)
