Sam Champion Returns to WABC to Anchor Morning and Noon Newscasts

Good news for New Yorkers: Veteran weather anchor Sam Champion is heading back to WABC Channel 7 to join the station’s weekday morning and noon teams as weather anchor. (TVNewser)

He’s replacing Bill Evans, who was let go from the station earlier this year. (TVSpy)

Champion was a fixture at the company for many years, serving as a weather anchor at WABC between 1988 and 2006 before moving to ABC News’ Good Morning America. He left in 2013 to join The Weather Channel as a managing editor. (Variety)

Champion will continue to contribute to ABC News. He will kick off his latest gig with New York’s top broadcast station on Monday, June 3. (Deadline)
