Showtime has picked up a series co-written by New York Times reporter Andrew Ross Sorkin, the network announced on Tuesday. The 12-episode series called Billions will focus on “power politics in the New York world of high finance,” and will star Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. (Politico / Dylan Byers on Media)
Sorkin famously chronicled the most recent financial crisis in his tome Too Big to Fail. Given the dramatic nature of the crash, the book was adapted into a critically acclaimed telepic starring Giamatti as Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke by HBO. Series production on Billions is set to begin in New York later this year, with a 2016 premiere in mind. (THR / The Live Feed)
