Newsweek’s Top Editor, Staffers Suddenly Fired

By Christine Zosche

Newsweek Media Group on Monday fired multiple staffers from the publications it oversees. Those fired include Newsweek editor in chief Bob Roe, executive editor Ken Li and reporter Celeste Katz, multiple sources said. (HuffPost)

Katz had written articles about financial issues at the magazine as well as an investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office into its parent company, Newsweek Media Group. (CNN)

Another staffer, political editor Matthew Cooper, resigned in protest, citing his lack of faith in the company’s management and posting his resignation letter on Twitter. The magazine’s offices were raided last month by investigators from the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, and its chief content officer stepped down after sexual harassment allegations. Some of its staffers are wondering whether the magazine will survive. Writers and editors at the publication’s New York offices were told they could go home for the day on Monday afternoon, although they were notified a new editor would be in place Tuesday. (USA Today)
