Jeff Bezos Starts $10 Billion Fund to Fight Climate Change

Bezos made the announcement in an Instagram post, saying it’s all part of the new Bezos Earth Fund. (Mashable)

The 56-year-old, who is worth nearly $130 billion, ended the post by saying he plans to “begin issuing grants this summer.” (HuffPost)

Bezos was previously criticized for donating $690,000 to the Australian wildfire efforts, which Amazon makes in five minutes, according to estimates. (Mediaite)

In September 2019, Amazon announced that it was the first signatory to The Climate Pledge, a commitment by the retailing giant to be “net-zero carbon” by 2040, a decade ahead of the international climate-change Paris Agreement’s target of 2050. (Variety)
