Game Of Thrones Dragon Incinerates the Bud Knight in Super Bowl Ad

HBO and Bud Light partnered for a quick reminder that the final season of Game Of Thrones is almost here. The spot combined two campaigns, HBO’s #ForTheThrone and Bud Light’s Dilly Dilly world. A 60-second ad ran during the second quarter and an extended version was posted online. (Adweek)

HBO and Anheuser-Busch shattered many Super Bowl commercial conventions Sunday night in the spot, which morphed from beer ad to pitch for the HBO series. The AT&T-backed HBO, which is slated to figure prominently in a new streaming-video service slated to launch later this year, teamed up with Anheuser-Busch InBev for the daring execution. (Variety)

The Washington Post had its first 60-second spot in the Super Bowl, and Tom Hanks voiced it. The ad showcasing the work of journalists aired in the fourth quarter, just before the two-minute warning. (Adweek)

The commercial showed scenes from major news events in history, from World War II through to the present day. According to the Post, Hanks’ narration “described the role of journalists as eyewitnesses and gatherers of facts,” as well as explored “the profession’s larger importance to society.” Donald Trump Jr. was quick to criticize the ad on Twitter.
