Fox News Adds Taya Kyle as Contributor

Fox News Channel has hired Taya Kyle, wife of the late Navy SEAL and American Sniper author Chris Kyle, as a contributor on military and family issues. (TVNewser)

Kyle made her first appearance as a contributor on Fox & Friends on Monday morning, weighing in on the debate about whether retired senior military officials should publicly endorse presidential candidates. Two retired generals who spoke at the DNC and RNC political conventions drew criticism from former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff Martin Dempsey, who said high ranking officers should be kept “off the stage.” (THR)

Kyle, founder of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, a support network for military families, and author of American Wife, was portrayed by actress Sienna Miller in the 2014 Clint Eastwood film American Sniper about her husband’s life. (The Washington Times)

Kyle is one of the first new contributors hired by the network since the departure of Roger Ailes, its former chairman and chief executive officer. Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, returned to his role as a contributor at the network, after a brief absence during which he was said to be among a number of candidates being considered to run for Vice President of the United States along with Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump.
