Conan O’Brien’s Podcast Company Sells to SiriusXM in Deal Valued Around $150 Million

Conan O’Brien found a friend—and a buyer—in Sirius XM Holdings Inc. The former late-night host sold his hit podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, to the satellite-radio company, along with his Team Coco digital-media company and its network of 10 podcasts, the companies said. (WSJ)

As part of the deal, O’Brien has entered into a five-year agreement with SiriusXM under which he will continue to host his hit podcast. (Reuters)

He will also collaborate with the broadcasting company to create and executive produce a new original Team Coco comedy channel for SiriusXM subscribers. Team Coco’s staff will join SiriusXM as well. (TechCrunch)

In addition, the agreement includes distribution of select video from O’Brien’s podcast, as well as from the archives of his long-running late night show on TBS, live events, and merchandise from the Team Coco brands. (Variety)

Since its inception over a decade ago, Team Coco has garnered more than 1 billion yearly video views across YouTube and Facebook—and averages 180 million annual podcast downloads, the company said. It also reaches 17 million fans across social media. (NY Post)
