Stay Out of It, With Nissan

By Matt Van Hoven

This ad by James Adomian and Andy Richter sure is funny &#151 and we hope it’ll bring some light into your Thursday. Our sister blog FishbowlLA came upon it and was nice enough to contact TBWA LA, which handles the Nissan work, and they issued this curious response.

Oh and did we mention that agency COO Neal Grossman took the time to respond. Someone’s got some spare time on his hands…

Dear Tina,

Everyone at TBWA\Chiat\Day wants to thank you for your interest and support.

With respect to the idea you forwarded to our office, we unfortunately have a policy (prompted by, I hate to say, our lawyers) that does not permit us to either review or accept unsolicited advertising, marketing or promotional ideas or materials. Once it is recognized that the purpose of any correspondence represents an unsolicited idea, they get forwarded to me without reviewing and I’m the guy with the unenviable position of having to tell people I am returning their ideas without reviewing them and that we aren’t keeping any copies.

Please do not interpret this as a rejection of the value of these ideas &#151 we love the enthusiasm for our advertising.

Sincerely,
Neal Grossman
Chief Operating Officer
