Periscope Enters the Sad Puppet Genre With ‘Benny & Lenny’

By Patrick Coffee

Have you ever seen a pair of puppets promoting a hair salon franchise? We have not.

Minneapolis shop Periscope (NOT New York’s Posterscope, which we’d never heard of before today, thanks Digiday) turned to the slightly twisted directorial duo The Perlorian Brothers for this campaign for client Great Clips.

“Benny & Lenny” tells the story of a sadly neglected puppet and his search for the man whose hand usually goes up his ass, Kanye-style.

Demand for ventriloquists must be pretty weak if he’s willing to lose his trademark ginger head-bush for nothing.

This isn’t really too much of a departure for the client, which already took a deep turn into Oddvertising territory with “Ralphpunzel” more than a year ago.
