Star players Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes certainly don’t need advice on how to play football, but a couple of armchair quarterbacks dole it out freely as they join the players on the field in a series of ads for DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket.
In one ad, just before the play snaps, Mahomes is suddenly joined on field by a fan in a recliner, who is then called offsides before his chair pulls a hamstring and has to head to the sidelines.
In another spot, Prescott is flanked by two fans in recliners, who recommend ridiculous trick plays like the Lompoc Leafblower and Slappy Two Pump Slant.
The spots end by stating that those who have the Sunday Ticket subscription service get the best seats in the house.
The gold in the ads are the reactions from the visibly annoyed Prescott and the irritated Mahomes, as well as the names of the plays being called, which also include Virginia Woolfe and Tuna Fish Salad.
The creative effort was developed and executed by agency Zambezi’s creative team and its production division, FIN Studios. The spots will go out on TV and social, and integrated assets include online, radio and podcast content.
