Nancy Hannon Joins Leo Burnett as EVP/ECD

nancy hannonToday in News We Missed, Leo Burnett Chicago officially hired creative veteran Nancy Hannon in December and made the news official last week; she now holds the EVP/ECD title.

Burnett was one of the big winners of last November’s Kraft shakeup, and Hannon will manage the teams working on that client’s Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Crystal Light, and Breakstone’s brands in addition to Kellogg’s Special K.

The hire marks a return of sorts for Chicago native Hannon, who spent more than a decade working on food and consumer goods accounts with Leo Burnett after entering the agency world. Prior to joining Leo, she spent 18 months as EVP/ECD at EnergyBBDO, where she ran creative for Quaker as well as various Bayer vitamin brands and simultaneously worked on new business.

Earlier in her career, Hannon spent five years with the Martin Agency, serving as SVP/GCD on accounts including Wal-Mart, the American Cancer Society, Hanes, and more. Other prominent roles include VP/CD on Sears at Y&R Chicago and several years spent as a freelancer with clients ranging from Always to Energizer.

Agency CEO Susan Credle writes:

“Nancy is known as a leader in portraying women in advertising with attitude, intelligence and depth. We welcome her contributions and leadership in this space.”

Despite Hannon’s move and Wieden+Kennedy’s hiring of Pereira & O’Dell ECD Jaime Robinson, readers and their comments tell us that the industry at large has yet to reach a long-promised new chapter in the “creative women in advertising” conversation.
