Meet Bob Marshall, Our New Chicago Scribe

By Kiran Aditham

As the seasons change, so must the AgencySpy staff, so without further ado, please say hi to our new Chi-town writer Bob Marshall. Despite his difficulty getting into bars or propensity for getting kicked out of them (see above), Bob was the former EIC at Madison’s quarterly pub Emmie Magazine and has contributed to the A.V. Club as well as music sites like Tiny Mix Tapes and Prefix.

So why Agency Spy, Bob? “Because I’m the type of guy who likes to critique every advertisement that comes my way, and it annoys the hell out of people who don’t care. In my J-school, the “smart, sensible” kids chose to advertising track, and the “dumb idealists” chose the reporting track. This is my way of combining my interests in college, and keeping my old classmates on their toes. Also, hanging with advertisers gives me the excuse to dress up nice and act classy, two things that journalism usually doesn’t permit (because, truth be told, my pants are from H&M and I stole my tie from my dad).”
