McGarrah Jesse, the Austin agency that held the Shiner Beer account for 15 years prior to Shiner launching a creative review in September of 2018, has hired Claire Whigham as chief creative officer.

She will partner with recently-appointed CEO Britton Upham on the agency’s executive leadership team.

“Claire brings a very human sensibility to our very technical world, both in how she interacts with people and expresses brand values,” Upham said. “We took the time to find a confident visionary who is also an attentive observer. I’m invigorated.”

Whigham joins the agency from 72andSunny, where she spent nearly seven years, most recently serving as group creative director. During her time at 72andSunny’s Los Angeles and Amsterdam offices, Whigham led creative for Allstate, Coors, Dropbox, Google and Starbucks. Prior to joining 72andSunny Amsterdam as a creative director in 2013, Whigham spent three and a half years at TBWA\Media Arts Lab, where she worked on launches for the iPhone, iPad and iTunes out of the agency’s Los Angeles and London offices as associate creative director. She began her career at JWT New York, where she worked as a copywriter on Rock the Vote, Rolex and Smirnoff.
