Maybe These Celebrities Can Convince You to Buy an Apple Watch

Apple launched a series of seven new spots, presumably created in-house, promoting the Apple Watch. Like their immediate predecessors, the minimalist ads feature the watch in action against a basic, pastel-colored backdrop, but this time around Apple has some star power.

Actress Chloë Sevigny and musicians RZA and Leon Bridges all make appearances in their own spots, showcasing different features of the Apple Watch. In “Play,” RZA takes a brief reprieve from playing the piano to update his bid on an eBay item. Sevigny has an outfit for each color the watch is available in in “Style.” And Bridges dances it up after telling Siri to “play some 80s music” in “Dance.” There are also four more spots, absent of such celebrities, but they’re largely forgettable. The ads at least makes an attempt to show the Apple Watch as useful beyond a mere status symbol, but ultimately may say more about the kind of consumer  who purchases the product than intended. After all, is upping your bid on a $7,000 plus vintage analog keyboard while playing a gorgeous piano or laying in a pile of expensive clothes all that relatable?
