By Kyle O'Brien

Creative agency Madwell has promoted Gabriela Benitez to president. Benitez, who previously served as svp, client services, becomes the first president of the independent agency, founded by Chris Sojka and David Eisenman in 2010.

“This is a pivotal moment in Madwell’s evolution, reflecting our growth and commitment to continuing to deliver high-quality results  for clients. Gaby’s appointment as president is a testament to her exceptional leadership and track record of driving success. Gaby has an exceptional ability to foster strong collaboration, serve clients effectively and champion our important diversity and inclusion initiatives, which ensure Madwell remains creative and innovative,” Sojka told ADWEEK.

Sojka continued that Benitez has streamlined integration between divisions, driven new business and led client services, while putting the team’s happiness above all other concerns.

Prior to joining Madwell, Benitez was senior brand lead at The Community, and has held roles at McCann, KBS and BBDO.

“Being appointed as the president of Madwell is a tremendous honor and I am humbled by the deep trust it shows in my leadership. I look forward to working to further elevate our agency’s reputation for creative excellence. My goal is to ensure that Madwell remains at the forefront of the industry, delivering exceptional work that makes a meaningful impact,” Benitez told ADWEEK.

In addition to her role as president, Benitez also leads Madwell’s DEI initiatives, having served as DEI executive sponsor for the last four years. She started and leads the agency’s DEI Panel, which is composed of “Madwellians” from all backgrounds, races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and across departments and levels of experience. The panel reviews every piece of work that goes through the agency from strategy briefs to concepts to scripts, casting and rough cuts.

Other initiatives include a BLAC program partnership to provide internship opportunities for people of color; an ongoing relationship with Verizon AdFellows; and an internship program that provides opportunities for career switchers and recent graduates to enter the industry.

Growing up in Argentina and Puerto Rico, Benitez developed a passion for global culture and defining what that means for brands. She has over 15 years of creative agency experience for clients including BMW, American Express and Verizon.

Madwell has plans for future growth, and Sojka said that its creative approach and differentiator from the pack is fueled by a diversity of thought and experience.

“Additionally, our commitment to staying independent and founder-led gives us the agility and flexibility to adapt to changing market dynamics,” said Sojka.
