Leo Sydney Takes Home Top Media Prize at Cannes

By Kiran Aditham

Leo Burnett Sydney nabbed Media Agency of the Year yesterday at Cannes, which is now mercifully at its midway point. The MAOY prize–which was decided on by a jury led by Starcom MediaVest global chief exec Laura Desmond–was just one of six earned by the Aussie branch including the Media Lions Grand Prix for its Canon EOS SLR “Photochains” effort that launched in May 2009. You can read the case study on the multi-award-winning campaign at Mediabistro’s own AdsoftheWorld site.

According to Campaign, though, the Media category also felt the hit from the economic downturn as just 47 Gold, Silver or Bronze Lions were presented across the board, down significantly from 122 awarded in 2009
