Leo Burnett Melbourne Tames Pink Horse for Honda

By Erik Oster

Leo Burnett Melbourne launched a new 60-second spot promoting the Honda CR-V Series II with a look at how far parents will go to keep their children happy.

When the head falls off a girl’s prized pink horse she tearfully shows her father, who packs the girla nd her brother into the family CR-V for a road trip to Ranch of the Rainbow, home of Prismatic Horses. Among the many-hued equines is one whose color matches the girl’s decapitated companion. The girl points out the free-spirited horse to her father, who corrals the horse with the CR-V, leaving the taming up to the daughter. Just when things seem wrapped up, the spot manages to sneak in a surprise from the back seat, followed by the tagline, “Go with it.”

“The idea came from the insight that having children is its own adventure, and sometimes you have to go on a bit of a wild goose chase to appease the imagination of a young child,”Leo Burnett executive creative director Jason Williams explained to Adweek.

The ad marks the debut spot in Leo Burnett Melbourne’s campaign for the Honda CR-V Series II, so viewers can expect more of the tagline and more fantastical ads fitting its theme in the future. The agency’s integrated campaign will be supported by cinema, interactive and OOH elements.
