Laundry Service and the NBA’s G League Are Both Breaking All Your Expectations

By Patrick Coffee

The NBA G League and Laundry Service have one thing in common: people sometimes underestimate them.

In case you, like ourselves, were not aware, G League is the minor leagues of professional basketball, complete with official jerseys and all.

This week, NBA PR sent us the new campaign for the league’s tip off game this Friday, which was the first pitch involving Laundry Service that we’ve received since… well, you know.

As if to remind everyone that they’re not just the agency involved in The Incident, here’s “Breaking Expectations.”

The message here is that these players can’t just be dismissed as wannabes. They’re the future of basketball, after all.

From the copy: “To change the future of basketball, you’ll need to break more than the status quo. The NBA G League was built to do just that. The future of basketball isn’t tomorrow. It’s right here.”

Even LeBron got in on that hashtag.

Since the NBA didn’t provide any assets, we don’t have a whole lot to add except that it’s called the G League because Gatorade has been a sponsor since last season, its 17th.

This would also appear to be a new account for the agency, which works with ESPN but hasn’t produced any NBA-specific ads in the past.

Now what has Jason Stein been up to beyond chilling and taking his kid to Nets games at Barclays Center?
