In Today’s Episode of ‘Let’s Try This Web Thing Again’: Skittles

By Kiran Aditham

Perhaps inspired by the seemingly infinite Orange destination, Skittles has unveiled its new official site, which was built by DUMBO digital shop Big Spaceship.

After all the hullabaloo surrounding Agency.com’s digital work for Skittles last year, which many justifiably claimed ripped off Modernista!’s site from 2008, the brand has opted for a colorful, streamlined, scroll-down experience featuring an odds and sods mix of content, which can all be shared via Facebook and Twitter. Apparently, “Taste the Rainbow” means “try the brown acid” now as you’ll encounter the above astronaut-clown to start with, then move onto various factoids, images and videos such as the one below:

Along with Big Spaceship’s handiwork, fellow digital outfits Firstborn and EVB created Shareskittles.com and the Facebook campaign, respectively.

As a sidenote, after Adweek ran the Skittles.com story yesterday, sources tell us that the brand was upset because they’d prefer to handle all media inquiries and that someone else must have taken PR duties into their own hands. Regardless, we’ve been told that all parties involved with the site redesign have now been given the blessing to Tweet about it today. Woo-hoo?
