Havas Chicago and Hefty Take Grandma Out to the ‘Ultimate Cubs Game’

Havas Chicago recently launched a follow-up spot to its “Party Hard Moms” effort for Hefty, proclaiming the brand, “The Official Party Cup of Wrigley Field.”

The spot, entitled “Ultimate Cubs Game,” focuses on a hard-partying grandma-type character who catches a foul ball in her Hefty cup and proceeds to chug her beer, to the delight of the fans around her. It’s a more simple approach than the “Party Hard Moms” spots, free of attempts at modern-day slang, relying on a fun vibe surrounding the old woman’s antics. LBB points out a couple of hidden details in the 30-second spot: Cubs fan Krista Dotzenrod, who actually did catch a foul ball in her cup of beer and proceed to chug it, makes an appearance in the spot; as does copywriter Matt Bush, the red-bearded guy stuffing his face with popcorn. The spot is running online, with promotion on the brand’s social channels, as well as on televisions in concession areas around the stadium.
