-As Earth Day dawns on us, a new campaign from the Paper & Packaging Board and its agency Manifest tackles misconceptions around using paper. The new spots feature comedian and TV star Retta and introduces the concept of a “Papertarian.” Paper can get a bad rap, but it’s a sustainable product, so the campaign cuts through the common tropes surrounding sustainability and encourages people to “Go Papertarian.” In each spot, Retta breaks down what it means to live a “paper-based lifestyle”—from the grocery aisle to recycling tips.

Sainsbury’s has concluded its pitch with the appointment of New Commercial Arts as its new agency. James Murphy, co-founder and CEO at NCA said: “Sainsbury’s is part of the fabric of British life.  We are excited to work with a brand with such ambitious plans and the scale to make a difference to all of us.”

-Amid noticeable and documented improvements in the cleanliness of New York City neighborhoods, one crisis persists: the preponderance of litter and dog waste on sidewalks. The New York City Department of Sanitation, in collaboration with the Partnership for New York City, launched a substantial marketing campaign to shame these “garbage” New Yorkers—litterers and dog-poopetrators—once and for all. This ad campaign, designed pro bono in a collaboration between brand and customer experience agency VMLY&R and the Department of Sanitation, is intended to enlist all New Yorkers in the work of calling out the offensive behavior.
