CHRLX Starts ‘Engine’ for Nike Zoom Elite 8

By Erik Oster

New York-based CHRLX recently launched an online spot for Nike as part of the brand’s “Find Your Fast” campaign promoting the Air Zoom Elite 8 (it just wasn’t as fast to make its way on this blog as Must Be Something’s contribution).

While its more high-profile companion relies on a slew of celebrity athletes to show off the sneaker, CHRLX lets it speak for itself. The spot opens with the sound of an engine, seemingly coming from the sneaker as air streams show off its aerodynamic structure. Around the midway point, the shoe suddenly drops down and unravels to reveal an engine at its core, before it promptly speeds off. Directed by Ryan Dunn, the visually impressive spot relies on sleek CGI to bring the “Engine” idea to life, for a different take on “Find Your Fast.” Despite lacking the big name stars of its companion, “Engine” has managed to rack up over 1.5 million views on YouTube since being uploaded at the beginning of the month.
