Cacique Foods Names Periscope as New Creative Agency of Record

Cacique Foods, a top brand of authentic Mexican-style cheeses, cremas, chorizos, salsas and dips in the U.S., has named Minneapolis-based creative agency Periscope its creative agency of record. The agency will work with Cacique to develop brand strategy and campaigns to further accelerate sustainable growth for the company.

Founded more than 50 years ago, Cacique initiated an agency search to bring transformational thinking to its business and the Hispanic food category. Through the agency search, the brand stated that Periscope demonstrated a willingness to challenge category norms as well as a deep understanding of the Cacique consumer, which made the agency a good fit for its growth goals.

“As we embark on the next 50 years of creating authentic Hispanic food products, we are proud to welcome Periscope to our family as an agency partner that aligns with our core values and rapidly scaling business,” said Tirso Iglesias, chief operating officer, Cacique Foods in a statement. “We’re excited to have Periscope’s strategic thinking, boundary-pushing creative and deep consumer insights in our corner for our next chapter of growth.”

Iglesias added that the partnership looks to drive growth with Cacique’s loyal consumer base as well as to invite new consumers to try the products.

“The addition of Cacique Foods to our roster taps into our passion and deep experience in consumer packaged goods. It also continues our recent CPG momentum, having added four new AOR partnerships in the category in the past year,” Annette Fonte, head of business and brand leadership at Periscope told Adweek.

Fonte said that working on the Cacique brand will allow the agency to flex its strength in cross-cultural strategy.

Periscope will collaborate with Cacique’s media, shopper marketing, public relations and social media agencies on various brand efforts beginning with a new campaign launching mid-2024.

Fonte said that Periscope is in the beginning stages of digging into the Cacique brand, but she said that the agency will respect the brand’s past while taking cues from its company culture to influence the work.

“Cacique is an amazing and cherished brand that fans in the know already love. Our job is to keep validating and appealing to the love of the brand’s long-time buyers, while also using deep consumer insights and strategic, boundary-pushing creative to reach more people who value exploring and experimenting with authentic cuisine,” said Fonte.

Cacique previously worked with Gallegos United as AOR, and more recently launched a campaign with Augustine Agency, “Authentic Flavors. Real Moments” in 2023.
