San Francisco agency Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners (BSSP) has a new managing director.

Agency veteran Lindsay Grant (pictured above) was promoted to the role from her previous position as executive director, business development, taking over for Chris Cardinal, who is leaving the agency after 15 years.

“Chris was a key leader at BSSP for 15 years and decided to take some time off to work on his next venture,” BSSP president Patrick Kiss said in a statement. “Both he and the agency parted on the best of terms.”

During her tenure with BSSP Grant has led the account management and product management departments and worked with clients including Columbia Sportswear, Roku, Nature Made, Greyhound, Blue Shield of California and Blackstone Winery, as well as on new business development. She joined BSSP ten years ago, following over four years with FCB, where she served as vice president, account director on Dockers, Hilton, and Qualcomm.

“Lindsay was a natural choice to succeed Chris. She successfully led the account management group, ran major accounts and is viewed by everyone at BSSP at all levels, as one of the key drivers of success at the agency,” Kiss told AgencySpy. “She’s smart, strategic, values the power of ideas and is digitally savvy. Lindsay is a great team builder and problem solver.”

The agency also promoted Jordan Gilbertson to director of communications planning. Gilbertson formerly served as associated director of communications planning and the “well-deserved promotion makes her leadership role official,” Kiss explained.

Gilbertson joined BSSP in a communications planning role in August of 2017 and was promoted to her previous role back in February. Before joining the agency she spent over two years at Mindshare, most recently serving as global communications supervisor.

Kiss called Gilbertson “one of the most talented communications planners in the country,” citing her “strategic skills, insight, creativity and digital savvy” as making her “uniquely qualified” for the position.

“Our industry is undergoing rapid transformation and it’s Lindsay and the executive leadership team’s responsibility to ensure we’re continually improving, evolving and delivering results for our clients with fast, modern, and unexpected solutions,” Kiss added. “We want to continue attracting the best talent in the business and this leadership team is poised to make BSSP a destination agency.”
