Booking.com Pitting Work From Deutsch Against Current Agency W+K

By Erik Oster

Booking.com is testing work by Deutsch against that of its current agency, Wieden+Kennedy, Campaign reports.

The publication adds that, according to its sources, the brand is “now viewing work from at least one other agency,” so Deutsch may not even be the only challenger in the mix.

This situation apparently arose out of the Priceline-owned brand’s dissatisfaction with its site traffic, despite increased ad spending. According to Campaign, the brand’s ad spending in the U.S. has nearly doubled, from $35 million on its initial campaign to over $60 million.

W+K has handled creative for Booking.com since 2013. While W+K Amsterdam initially handled work for the brand, W+K Portland launched its “Jordan & Chelsea’s Booking Wedding” campaign for the brand in April, starring Jordan Peele, Chelsea Peretti and a series of their comedian friends, which concluded with a pair of spots in August.

W+K Tokyo has also launched two campaigns for the brand in Japan: “Here’s to Explorers” and “Food Lovers.”
