W+K Portland Celebrates ‘Jordan & Chelsea’s Booking Wedding’

By Erik Oster

Last Friday W+K Portland launched a new campaign (somehow we didn’t find time to post on it with all the April Fool’s Day mishigas going on) celebrating the fantasy wedding of real-life engaged couple Jordan Peele (Key & Peele, the upcoming Keanu) and Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine Nine).

The 30-second “Destination Wedding” sees the couple fantasizing about possible locations for a destination wedding. They imagine getting married in a yurt, only to find an unexpected guest intrude on the ceremony. Ultimately, they decide an island might be a better choice. “Beach Booty” sees them question the beach wedding plan mid-workout, with a voiceover explaining how Booking.com’s free cancelation will make it easy to just book a different resort.

The ads are memorable and relatable, while highlighting Booking.com’s flexibility for those prone to last minute changes of plan. While they may leave a little bit to be desired in the humor department (you have to wonder why they didn’t get Peele to contribute as a writer), it sets up an ongoing story for future development that ties in to a specific brand strength, with six more ads expected to launch throughout the spring and summer.
