Blind Items: Clogged Toilets and Intimate Relations

Hello and happy hump day, readers.

Now is the time when we dig back through our tips archive to find the claims that no one in their right mind would ever confirm. First: according to another one of those repeat tipsters, a certain New York-based agency’s offices had a bathroom problem earlier this month:

“…the stalls are overflowing with poop.”

If this super-relevant rumor is true, it would seem that the agency in question and M&C Saatchi London recently dealt with opposing problems: the UK employee didn’t flush while the other agency’s employees couldn’t flush. At least the issue doesn’t seem to be gender-specific.

On to more important things…

Another reader claims that there might be an ongoing romantic conflict of interest at an unnamed agency.

According to this (completely unsubstantiated) tip, the COO of a big-name chain client has been involved in a relationship with an SVP at the company’s agency of record. Tipster says that the two parties have claimed that they’re not breaking any unwritten rules, which implies that the pair has been open about the relationship and that the company and its AOR have parted ways. But the source also claims that the two were involved while “in the midst of” doing business together.

Hmm.

Two other recent tips concern this year’s Cannes festival:

First, a source claims that an executive who had been with an agency for more than a decade was fired for “drunken behavior” at the event; we hear that “inappropriate touching” was involved. We have no idea whether this is true and we’re very glad we weren’t there, but the exec named in the tip has indeed moved on.

Finally, a more salacious and hopefully false rumor:

“Uncomfortable” reader claims that a top executive at an agency you probably know had some sort of borderline-inappropriate relationship with one of the agency’s (considerably younger) employees. The exec supposedly told the employee to lie about travel plans so that the two could stay in Cannes together after everyone else on the team had left — and no one was happy about it.

Now discuss others’ alleged bad behavior amongst yourselves.
