BBH London launched a back-to-school campaign for shoe brand Clarks that mixes live action footage and animation to show how the client can help return students “Prepare for Awesome.”
Each ad opens with a child feeling that familiar back-to-school despondency…until a pair of Clarks shoes starts talking.
Soon, vibrantly colored animation transforms the scene as each kid imagines awesome possibilities in store for the next school year.
Arriving on the early side of back-to-school ads, it aims to counter the gloom many kids feel when the school year returns. Each spot tweaks the approach slightly, finding just the right balance between unique touches and cohesiveness with the rest of the campaign. The explosively colorful animation is what really makes these spots, though.
It’s almost enough to actually convince kids that going back to school might not be so bad…
