72andSunny Names Juliana Cobb Head of Creative in New York

By Kyle O'Brien

72andSunny is upping the creative firepower at its New York office by naming Juliana Cobb executive creative director to lead and set the vision of the creative department.

Cobb joins from Droga5 New York, where she spent eight years and rose from group creative director to executive creative director. She is tasked with helping to grow 72andSunny’s New York office in culture as well as roster of clients.

At Droga5, Cobb led work for major brands including Prudential, Blue Apron, Pinterest and Chase, and most recently the global Huggies campaign “We Got You, Baby.”

“I’ve never been an ad guy. I never got the formal ad school training a lot of people did, so my true north always has to be ‘is it the truth and does it feel special?’ I’m drawn to work like that and the places that create it,” said Cobb in a statement.

Cobb will work with newly appointed head of strategy Geoff McHenry, who said she brings creativity, clarity, and charisma to the table. “I personally can’t wait to see the amazing work we will create together when the powers of our minds combine,” said McHenry in a statement.

Cobb will report to Matt Murphy, global chief creative officer at 72andSunny.

“Juliana is joining at a pivotal moment for 72andSunny as we bring a sharpness to the type of work that makes the NYC office truly unique. Most importantly, she’ll help our clients win through unparalleled creative vision and execution.” said Murphy in a statement.

In the past year, 72andSunny New York has helped redesign Zoom’s brand identity, create a retail pop-up for 1800 Tequila and launch Sleep Number’s new creative platform.

Before Droga5, Cobb held creative positions at BBDO, McCann, Publicis Dialog, and freelance positions at several agencies.

“My years at Droga gave me the opportunity to lead influential work. Now I get to lead an influential agency. 72andSunny New York feels like a perfectly laid fire that just needs a match to light up and dance. The pedigree is there. The talent is there. The clients are there. From the founders all the way down there’s a real commitment to cultivating the unique personality and the heartbeat of the New York office. It feels exciting and fresh—and importantly, it also feels like home. This is a tight-knit group of beautiful weirdos who all just want to make special things that are worth people’s time and positively impact people’s businesses,” said Cobb.
