Creative vets Jon Wagner and Dustin Duke both returned to Ogilvy & Mather New York this month after spending approximately two years with the Havas organization.
Wagner and Duke, who were ECDs at Havas, have already started their new roles; they now hold both the ECD and senior partner titles at Ogilvy.
Last January, the pair made headlines when Havas poached them from Ogilvy to “oversee work for all Reckitt Benckiser brands,” which included quite a few big ones even after the parent company sent Air Wick and Clearasil to Droga5, Finish to W+K and Mucinex to McCann last December. While at Havas, they also had credits on the Keurig business, which was purchased by the same private equity firm that owns Peet’s Coffee & Tea this week for around $14 billion.
The two have worked together for some time after coming together at Lowe New York. They share portfolios (here and here) as well as awards from multiple shows including the Emmys, Cannes, CLIOs and the MoMA’s permanent collection (not a show, we know).
Wagner and Duke both joined Ogilvy in late 2005 and spent more than eight years there, working primarily on AmEx, Coca-Cola, IKEA and Time Warner Cable.
Corinna Falusi was promoted to CCO at Ogilvy New York in January after Calle Sjoenell departed for a position leading creative at Lowe Brindfors in Stockholm, and we hear that the decision to lure Wagner and Duke back from Havas was part of Falusi’s extended efforts to build a new creative leadership team at Ogilvy. It’s not yet clear which accounts they will oversee at Ogilvy New York, but the office’s clients include IBM, Coke Zero, NASCAR, the UPS Store and Tiffany.
We hear that Falusi will continue her ongoing efforts to attract new (or, in this case, not-new) talent to the Ogilvy team.
