Wayne McCormick Retiring from KTXS

197958_161179780601916_4727184_nVeteran anchor Wayne McCormick has announced his plans to retire from KTXS, the ABC affiliate for Abilene, Texas.

McCormick, who has anchored KTXS News at 6 and 10 for 23 years, broke the news to the staff yesterday.

“I’m thankful for a good, long run at KTXS,” McCormick said. “I will always value the relationships and friends I’ve made in Abilene.”

He told staff it was a difficult decision but, added that “it’s time for me to make some changes that allow me more time to pursue other interests.”

“Wayne’s contributions to KTXS are enormous,” said KTXS vice president and general manager Albert Brown. “He is the longest tenured news anchor in the history of KTXS. We will miss Wayne but wish him the absolute best in his retirement,”

McCormick plans to retire at the end of June.
