George Mallet, a veteran anchor-reporter who’s 20+ years in TV news has brought him to Raleigh-Durham, Philadelphia, and even Guam, is leaving Milwaukee’s WTMJ for WPTZ in North Pole, NY. Mallet, who was a daytime anchor for WTMJ, will become the face of WPTZ’s evening newscasts along with co-anchor Stephanie Gori.

WPTZ is an NBC-affiliate serving northern New York state and the Champlain Valley of Vermont. Mallet said that he’s looking forward to beginning a new life in the Northeast.

“I’m obviously very excited to come to the Champlain Valley,” said Mallet. “I’ve visited the area numerous times over the years, on vacation. I can’t wait to call it home.”

“George is a great guy who really wanted to come to the Champlain Valley,” said WPTZ/WNNE news director Sinan Sadar. “He made it clear to me from our first conversation. I think the people of our area will grow to like and respect George as I do.”
