6a00d8341c2cc953ef0176175c828c970cTammy Dombeck, the interim early morning traffic reporter at Dallas CBS-owned station KTVT, has been abruptly fired.

Dombeck tweeted the news on Monday, writing:

My friends, it is with great disappointment that I tell you CBS is not hiring me for the AM traffic spot, tomorrow will be my last AM show.

Dombeck, who’s been Whitney Drolen‘s replacement since last October, will most likely be replaced by 24-year-old Chelsey Davis, currently traffic reporter at KPHO, the CBS affiliate in Phoenix.

Dombeck told The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that she knows why she’s being replaced: her age.

“All the girls they auditioned for this job were in their 20s,” Dombeck told the site via Facebook email. “I didn’t have a chance. Frustrating.”

Uncle Barky’s Bytes reports that KTVT didn’t even give Dombreck the courtesy of a real last day at work:

Dombeck thought her last day would be on Tuesday, April 28th. But after an outpouring of support for her on both Twitter and her Facebook page, Dombeck said CBS11 management contacted her attorney and said there’s be no need for her to come in on that day after all.

The station has no comment on who Dombeck’s permanent replacement will be.
