F-Bomb Meteorologist Returning to Work After Outpouring of Support From Viewers

WSAV chief meteorologist Kris Allred is set to return to work next Monday, a week after she was heard saying the f-word during the Savannah NBC-affiliate’s 5 p.m. newscast.

Soon after the incident, Allred posted a message on WSAV’s Facebook page apologizing for “having used such offensive language,” and viewers quickly responded with messages of support.

Now it appears that Allred’s swift apology and the show of support from viewers were enough to convince WSAV to let the veteran meteorologist back on the air.

“At WSAV we don’t take this situation lightly and neither does Kris Allred,” WSAV general manager Debbi Thompson wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday.  “The apology she made was immediate and sincere, and the feedback we’ve gotten is that her apology has been warmly accepted by you. We are very pleased to let you know that Kris will be back giving you her forecasts Monday, August 6th.”

Following Thompson’s announcement, Allred thanked viewers for their support.

“I just want to tell everyone that I am happy with how this situation was settled. What happened needed to be seriously addressed, and I agree with how it has been resolved,” Allred wrote on WSAV’s Facebook page, as well as her personal page.  “Thank you so much for all of your kind words. Now, I can’t wait to be back to forecasting on WSAV News 3 for you on Monday!”
