The Top Cable News Shows in Q1 2014 Were…

Fox News had the top 14 cable news programs in total viewers and the top seven in the key A25-54 demographic in the first three months of 2014. As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was number one in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,790,000 and 427,000, respectively. “The Kelly File” was second in total viewers, with 2,228,000, while “The Five” was second in the demo, with 366,000.

MSNBC’s highest-rated show was “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which placed 15th overall in total viewers and eighth overall in the demo. Maddow’s program averaged 974,000 total viewers and 267,000 demo viewers.

CNBC broke into the top ten among A25-54 viewers with “Shark Tank,” which led the network in both total viewers and the demo for the quarter. Reruns of the ABC program averaged 499,000 total viewers and 252,000 A25-54 viewers, placing 25th overall among total viewers and ninth overall in the demo.

Anderson Cooper 360″ was the top CNN program in total viewers and the demo, placing 20th and 22nd, respectively. The show averaged 560,000 total viewers and 184,000 A25-54 viewers for the first quarter.

For HLN, “Nancy Grace” led in total viewers with 371,000 viewers, ranking 37th overall. “Forensic Files” was the top show in the demo, drawing 133,000 viewers, which ranked 32nd overall.

The top-rated show on Fox Business was “Varney & Company,” which delivered 110,000 total viewers and 23,000 A25-54 viewers.
