Obama on Peace Prize: “I Do Not Feel I Deserve to be in the Company of So Many of the Transformative Figures Who’ve Been Honored by this Prize’

ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX aired special reports this morning as Pres. Obama announced he would accept the Nobel Peace Prize. “I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments,” Obama said from the Rose Garden, “but rather as an affirmation of America’s leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.” [The screengrab from NBC is from Washington station WRC which was in a local news broadcast at the time.]

CNN, FNC, MSNBC, CNBC and FBN also carried Obama’s remarks.

Related: Time‘s Jim Poniewozik on some of this morning‘s cable news coverage: “…at 9:39, Fox anchor Megyn Kelly mentioned the prize award for (I timed it with a stopwatch) 11.1 seconds. After which Bill Hemmer segued: ‘Hey, meet the guys who built a pumpkin cannon!’ To be fair, it was a really awesome pumpkin cannon.”

Only, it wasn’t Megyn Kelly who said that… she’s on maternity leave… it was fill-in anchor Juliet Huddy.
