Jane Wells Steps Back at CNBC

L.A.-based CNBC correspondent Jane Wells has been named a special correspondent for the network, leaving day-to-day work for the channel that she’s been a part of for 20 years.

“Jane told me a few months ago that she wanted to step away from day-to-day reporting to explore some of her other interests but wanted to remain part of the CNBC family,” writes CNBC svp Nik Deogun in a note to staff, obtained by TVNewser.

Wells joined CNBC full-time in 1998 following stints at Fox News Channel and at WNBC, where she covered the O.J. Simpson murder trial. She’s also been a reporter at KTTV, WTVJ, KCBS, WTVJ and KOB. At CNBC she was a contributor to Geraldo Rivera’s prime-time show Rivera Live. Since then she’s covered both serious news and stories for the franchise Funny Business. Since 2005 she’s hosted Good Life reports for CBS Radio.

Wells also had a bit part in the Seinfeld finale playing a reporter.

“Rarely a day goes by without someone saying, ‘That’s a Jane story.'” Deogun writes. “Fortunately for us and our viewers, we will still get to say this, albeit with less frequency. Please join me in wishing Jane all the very best.”
