ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir was featured in Esquire as one of its “2017 Hollywood Mavericks.” Muir spoke to the magazine about his work as a news anchor in the time of Trump: “We are reporting to a divided America every night. I need to ask the questions the people at home want answered. Especially in a divided time,” Muir says. “The press today is under attack, slandered as ‘fake news.’ That presents enormous challenges, but it also fuels me.”
Morning Joe duo Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough are featured in The Wrap. The duo talk about their 10 years on morning TV together, along with Willie Geist. Scarborough said that the original mandate from MSNBC was to do “more entertainment news,” but he and Brzezinski didn’t want to go that route. “The first time that people really took notice was when Mika was given scripts, by the news desk, to lead the show with Paris Hilton getting out of prison,” Scarborough said. “She tore up the script and said, ‘We’re not gonna do this.’”
Steve Hilton, host of the Fox News weekend prime time series The Revolution, is profiled in The New York Times style section. A tech entrepreneur, and once chief adviser to former British PM David Cameron is now the first and only Fox News host in Silicon Valley, “where supporters of President Trump are nearly nonexistent and few think populism would improve their lives.” Hilton says: “What’s going on for half the country? Who’s lost out? The victims of elitist agenda; standing up for them, being a voice for them. That’s the idea behind positive populism, that’s what drives the content.”
