Imus Says He’s “Competitive With CNN”

“The only time in recent memory that MSNBC challenged CNN or Fox in the ratings was when it aired coverage of curling during the Winter Olympics this year,” Don Kaplan wrote in Wednesday’s NY Post. Don Imus quickly defended MSNBC’s simulcast of his show.

“Maybe the mornings on these cable news channels don’t count? I don’t know. Not only are WE competitive with CNN, I’m just talking about the mornings, but often beat them. Certainly we do beat them,” he said, according to ICN’s transcript.

In May, Imus averaged 107,000 in the demo and 295,000 total viewers on MSNBC. American Morning averaged 151,000 in the demo and 372,000 total viewers on CNN…
