The Williamses have taken Nantucket. Brian Williams and daughter Allison Williams jetted to the island for the Nantucket Film Festival this weekend. Reports the Daily News:

The “NBC Nightly News” anchor had the crowd at the at the ‘Sconset Casino in stitches Saturday night when he moderated the Screenwriters Tribute to filmmaker Paul Haggis and opened by noting that the once-down-to-earth festival now had acquired a sheen of East End glitz. “For starters, the official car when I got involved was a ’78 Chrysler LeBaron,” said Williams, who’s a festival board member. BMW is now a sponsor. Plus, he added, “There are liquor women. Spokesmodels. It’s like a Hamptons ferry has careened into Nantucket.”

The Boston Herald caught up with Allison Williams on the red carpet at the weekend festival. The Yale graduate will star in an upcoming HBO series “Girls,” about a group of 20-somethings living in Brooklyn.

“Yes, I’m reporting live from this phase of life,” Allison told the Herald. “But I think it’s going to be all right.”

Meanwhile, back on the mainland, Williams will be honored tonight as Broadcaster of the Year by the New York State Broadcasters Association.
