‘#TrumpBookReport’ Hashtag Sweeps Twitter

By Maryann Yin

twitterbird-300x300In the past twenty four hours, the #TrumpBookReport hashtag has been trending on Twitter. The Huffington Post reports that this hashtag was galvanized by a tweet from Antonio French, a St. Louis mayoral candidate, who was watching the third and final presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Here’s more from Vogue: “Trump’s constant rambling led Twitter user Antonio French to compare him to a lazy high school student who hadn’t done his homework…Of course, as often happens on the Internet, French’s tweet inspired a funny new hashtag: #TrumpBookReport.”

Participants have crafted tweets with references to several beloved books including The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, Green Eggs & Ham by Dr. Seuss, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Below, we’ve collected several messages from Twitter in a Storify post.
