Scene @ A.M. Homes’ Book Party

By Neal

amhomes-bookparty.jpgThe Sperone Westwater gallery was packed with literary and art-world celebrities last night to celebrate the publication of A.M. Homes‘s memoir, The Mistress’s Daughter. Here we see Francine Prose and Wallace Shawn chatting with other guests, while Homes poses in the gallery’s reception area with Mark Epstein, the author of several books about Buddhism and psychotherapy. Also spotted around the room: Calvin Trillin, Deborah Eisenberg, David Byrne, Jean Nathan, Donna Masini, Daniel Mendelsohn, Jean Nathan, Daphne Merkin, Isaac Mizrahi, Meg Wolitzer, and photographer Gregory Crewdson. I didn’t find out about Crewdson until after I’d left the building, though, which is probably a good thing as otherwise I’d have gotten all fanboy, and that’s always a bit mortifying. Meanwhile, non-celebrities have an opportunity to see Homes read at the Chelsea Barnes & Noble tonight as she kicks off her tour.
