Salman Rushdie 200Salman Rushdie has shared a statement on social media to criticize the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump. In his piece, the Midnight’s Children novelist detailed many of Trump’s scandals and controversial actions.

Here’s an excerpt from Rushdie’s Facebook post: “Trump will go on trial in November accused of racketeering, and again in December accused of child rape. He is a sexual predator, hasn’t released his tax returns, and has used his foundation’s money to pay his legal fees. He has abused the family of a war hero and…oh, but let’s talk about some emails Hillary didn’t send from someone else’s computer, that weren’t a crime anyway, because that’s how to choose a president. ”

Throughout the political season, several authors have vocally expressed their opposition towards Trump’s presidential run. Earlier this year, more than 450 writers signed an open letter to convey their concerns about Trump succeeding President Barack Obama in the White House. Some of the participants include A Series of Unfortunate Events series author Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket), horror writer Stephen King, and The Joy Luck Club novelist Amy Tan. (via The Huffington Post)
