O’Reilly Media Lays Off 30 Employees

By Jason Boog

oreilly.gifThe publishing recession has hit the technology books sector as O’Reilly Media cut 30 jobs–13.5 percent of the 222-person company.

The majority of the cuts came at the company’s headquarters in Sebastopol, California. The company joined Barnes & Noble and Random House in making difficult layoffs this week.

O’Reilly Media Spokesperson Sara Winge explained the company-wide changes to the Press Democrat: “The Digital Media branch was restructured into one publishing division along with the company’s Missing Manual group, O’Reilly Technology Exchange and its Head First series.” (Via PW)
