As the latest installment of Diary of a Wimpy Kid series (The Last Straw) hit shelves this week, young literary critics gathered on YouTube to analyze the popular young adult book–perhaps preserving the future of the book review.
While the Wimpy Kid series’ blockbuster sales have earned plenty of attention, it’s worth noting that these young reviewers are building a following as well. The adult-produced video above is a great example of the form–one can only imagine how many takes that first sequence required…
On the kid-produced side, the long list of video book review results ranged from thoughtful to incomprehensible. The user named SargentAngel had nearly 10,000 views of his homemade trailer for the series, and the user named wiiaregreat earned more than 4,000 views for his longer video book review.
