NaNoWriMo 2016 Tip #4: Be Kind to Yourself

By Maryann Yin

Several of the people who take on the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenge are attempting to write a novel for the very first time. Regardless of experience level, all writers need to remember to be kind to themselves throughout this process.

The video embedded above features wise words from Ira Glass. In the piece, Glass encourages creatives who are beginning to learn a new craft to remember that the early stages can be difficult to get through, but that is both normal and necessary.

This is our fourth NaNoWriMo Tip of the Day for 2016. As writers around the country join the writing marathon this month, we will share guidance and writing tools to help you work on this daunting project.
