Marley Dias at the NYPL (GalleyCat)Marley Dias has revealed her favorite books. The New Jersey tween (pictured, via) has become well-known as the founder of the #1000BlackGirlBooks social media campaign.

Recently, she made an appearance at the New York Public Library (NYPL). During her visit, she named her top five reads: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson, Roller girl by Victoria Jamieson, Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan, and Aya of Yop City by Marguerite Abouet.

Here’s an excerpt from the NYPL blog post: “Since January, she has collected over 4,000 books from around the world with the GrassROOTS Community Foundation and created a resource guide featuring 700 of the books sorted by grade level. Every month, the list will be updated to serve as a resource for schools, libraries, and parents. The books were donated to a school in her native Philadelphia and a parish library in her mom’s native Jamaica.”
