Lin-Manuel Miranda Named Creative Producer For the Kingkiller Chronicle Adaptations

Hamilton Star Lin-Manuel Miranda (GalleyCat)Lin-Manuel Miranda has agreed to serve as a creative producer and music composer for Lionsgate’s Kingkiller Chronicle adaptation projects. According to Variety, the company intends to adapt Patrick Rothfuss’ fantasy books into a television series, a film franchise, and possibly a video game.

So far, Rothfuss has written and released two novels (The Name of The Wind and The Wise Man’s Fear), a short story (“How Old Holly Came to Be”), and two novellas (The Lightning Tree and The Slow Regard of Silent Things) for this series. He intends to publish a third novel at some point in the future.

Here’s more from Deadline: “The plan is for Lionsgate to simultaneously develop and produce the feature film franchise based on the trilogy, the first movie of which to be written by Lindsey Beer (Transformers 5), and a TV drama series that expands on the world outside the books. The film script will be based on the first book, The Name of the Wind, published in 2007. Miranda and Rothfuss will be intimately involved in the development of the new characters and storylines explored in the TV show, Lionsgate said in making the announcement today.” (via The Wrap)
